Counseling: Children, Teens & Young Adults

Are you concerned your child may be having a hard time at school or with friends?
Do you have a teen you feel is slipping away as a result of bad choices or habits?

If so, you are not alone - there are solutions to these problems.

When  working as a child therapist I primarily use play therapy.  As children  become teenagers (and then young adults) the counseling becomes more  traditional talk therapy, often from a cognitive therapy (CBT)  perspective.  Some of the mental health problems children, adolescents  & young adults seek treatment for fall into the following  categories:

  • Anxiety Disorders (including School Anxiety, Social Anxiety & Anxiety Attacks)
  • Bi Polar Disorder (Manic Depression)
  • Bullying information
  • Depression treatment (including Major Depression & Clinical Depression)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Divorce
  • Eating disorder treatment (including anorexia, bulimia & emotional eating)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Personality/temperament exploration
  • Relationship help
  • Self-harm/Self-injury
  • Sexual abuse
  • Sexual assault (including date rape)
  • Sexuality (including LGBT-Q)
  • Spirituality (including Christian counseling)
  • Stress management
  • Suicidal thoughts & behaviors *
  • Trauma therapy (including PTSD treatment)

* If you are currently suicidal please call 911 or your primary care physician.
